We're going to continue around the world to look at serial killers, this time we're going to Spain in the 1980s.
We are going to talk about José Antonio Rodríguez Vega, who in Spain was called El Matavie (The Old Lady Murderer).
Rodríguez Vega has a terrible hatred for his mother after she kicked him out when he beat his terminally ill father. Rodríguez Vega wanted revenge and therefore started his plot against his mother by raping up to several women until he was arrested in 1978.
Here he was sentenced to 27 years in prison, but due to his behavior in prison and his ability to get his victims to forgive him, his sentence was reduced to 8 years.
When he was released in 1986, his wife left him at the same time, which he did not take well.
However, Rodríguez Vega was remarried to a mentally disabled woman whom he tortured and humiliated.,
In 1988, Rodríguez Vega was arrested, which led to his confession of the killes.
In August 187 he had raped and strangled 82-year-old Margarita González - I won't go into too much detail cause it was a brutal murder, but she was, among other things, forced to swallow her false teeth.
In September 1987, 80-year-old Carmen Conzález Fernández was found dead, and already in October, Rodríguez Vega struck again when he raped, beat and strangled 66-year-old Natividad Robledo Espinosa.
Fortunately, Rodríguez took a short break until January 1988, when Carmen was found in her home.
In April 1988, 66-year-old Juli Paz Fernández was raped and strangled by Rodríguez Vega.
It is known that there were a minimum of 16 victims in total, but the identity of many has not been made public.
In November 1991, when the trial began, Rodríguez Vega denied all accusations, despite his earlier confession.
Rodríguez Vega was diagnosed as a psychopath, despite the diagnosis he was sentenced to 440 years in prison due to the many murders.
However, Rodríguez only got 11 years in prison because in 2002 he was attacked by 2 fellow inmates and stabbed to death.
