Now it's time to talk serial killer again! - YES PLEASE.
I have once again been out investigating the world's worst criminal, and this time we are going to Scotland.
We are going to talk about Peter Britton Tobin, who was a convicted serial killer and sex offender
Peter Britton Tobin was convicted of 3 murders committed between 1991 and 2006 but has also been investigated in connection with the disappearance and death of other women and girls.
In 1993, Tobin assaulted 2 14-year-old girls. The 2 girls wanted to visit a neighbor who was unfortunately not at home, and asked Tobin and they could wait at his place. Tobin forced them to drink alcohol at knifepoint before sexually assaulting the girls while his youngest son was present. He then tried to burn down the house with the girls left inside.
Fortunately, both girls survived, and in 1994 he was sentenced to 14 years in prison, but was already released in 2004.
In 2006, Tobin had changed his name to Pat McLauglin, since he was still on the sex offender registry. Here he struck again and killed the 23-year-old student Angelika Kluk (I will spare you the gruesome details, as they are not for the faint of heart!)
In 2007, he was sentenced to life and a minimum of 21 years in prison. However, the atrocities continued when Tobin's old house in Bathgate was investigated in 2007 in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Vicky Hamilton in 1991. It was confirmed in late 2007 that the remains of a body had been found in his back garden.
In 2008, Tobin was again sentenced to life in prison. (Imagine buying a house without knowing there are corpses in the backyard!)
Now you would think it was over…..... But no.
In 1991, 18-year-old Dinah McNicol disappeared, and in 2007, in connection with the investigation of Vicky Hamiltion, the case was reopened when another body was found in Tobin's backyard.
Despite there being no evidence, Tobin was sentenced in 2009 to his third life sentence. - am I the only one who never understood the point of multiple life sentences for the same person?
